First Day Of Camp!
After a very long year for all of us, and weeks of counting down the days, Camp Sports is finally back and welcoming campers! Our first day back was a busy one. Our advisors were busy greeting campers from all over the country (and the world) and helping them settle in. At about 3 o’clock the buses pulled in and brought the “In-town” crowd. The NCSY’ers were met with singing and excitement as they disembarked the buses as the advisors happily helped them with their luggage as they found their rooms and moved in.
After lunch was served, there was some important introductions and orientation to get through as everyone gets settled in. Rabbi Green addressed the camp with some key info. Following that we had a delicious burger dinner (with all the fixings) and some time to relax and take in the surroundings. After dinner break it was time for mincha and some more messages but before long we were off to the basketball courts for a good old fashioned 4-way dodgeball game. The teams were split up by floors in the dorms, with the winning floor getting Rita’s ices (at a time TBD…). The super fun games were followed by maariv and a bit more orientation (including the camp’s signature sports rules) plus some words of inspiration from the mashgiach of Ner Yisroel, Rabbi Baruch Neuberger. After a long day it certainly felt good to retire to the dorms and get some much needed sleep in. We’re gonna need it…
