Camp Sports weekly email
Dear Parents, Thank you very much for sending your son to Camp NCSY Sports this summer. We will do our best to make this summer an exciting, fun and growth oriented experience. I hope to send you weekly updates throughout the summer. I also encourage you to follow us on the Camp Sports Blog, our Twitter account, Facebook and more. You can find everything at http://campsports.ncsy.org/ Our daily schedule has davening(prayers) at 8:15 am followed by breakfast and individualized learning groups until noon. After lunch we either go on a trip or play league sports, we then shower and head to dinner at 6:00. Evenings are spent with activities, open sports, some classes and trips. You may hear about some of these things from your son, but since he is a “teenage boys” and may not let you know, we will use these emails to help you keep track of what he is doing and even ask him a question or two about camp. This past Thursday we had a great day with the first day of learning an interactive discussion and packet about Rosh Hashana. Everyone ate lunch and played an icebreaker to find out their sports team. We headed out to sports and right into a thunderstorm, but after a few minute wait everyone played their first game and had an amazing time. As always have the teams lost and half won, but it is more about who wins or loses it is about having fun! After dinner we had pick up sports games on campus. Followed by an optional mishmar program and raffles. Every Thursday night we have a special learning program which is followed by a weekly random raffle. The prizes ranged this week from a “fridge for the summer” to remote control helicopter, with much food and electronics in between. We ended the night with a late night Barbecue. Today we will be playing one sports game and going to Wal Mart to Rollback the prices and stock up our dorm rooms. I let the boys know that they should get ready for shabbos since it is a big day, that is why we should all shower and put on bigday shabbos (shabbos clothing). We look forward to having a great shabbos filled with ruach and a great week. We will hopefully be going to Hershey park, a minor league baseball game, bowling as well as an on campus dodge ball tournament and the first annual touch Rugby game, but you can read about that in the email next week, or on our blog. Thank you for trusting us with your son this summer and have a wonderful shabbos, Rabbi Jon Green and the entire Camp Sports staff
