Dear Camp Sports Parents, Wow what an amazing week we had at NCSY Camp Sports!!!
Last Shabbos was full of our amazing ruach and excitement that only gets better each week. We had the special honor to have NCSY’s legendary Rabbi Yisroel Lashak join us and it was quite inspiring. He spoke at a jam packed oneg on Friday night and was even better than the deli roll and cholent we had. On Shabbos day he spoke again and wowed us with stories, jokes and inspiration that impacted all members of the Camp Sports family. Usually he spends the summer in Israel but this year NCSY sent him to some of the domestic programs and the NCSYers benefitted greatly. Shabbos came to an end with Rabbi Copper sharing the inspirational story of the Great Felipe and another beautiful musical havdolah lead by our very own Yosef Masinter.
Sunday morning we had a late shachris and then as always on Sunday, a special learning presentation. This week Dr. Avi Landa came to speak about technology, addictions and ways we can avoid the negative side of the challenges and benefits of technology. In the afternoon, leagues resumed and are getting a little more competitive as we get close to the two championship games, the Kidush Kup and the Toilet Bowl. At night we went out to another campus to play basketball, volleyball, and some intense games of pickleball.
Monday morning we resumed our regular daily learning groups and chaburos. In the afternoon we went to Monkton Maryland to either go tubing or a twenty mile bike hike to Pennsylvania, both on the beautiful NCR trail. Our CITs/waiters went on a special fishing trip and rumor has it, they made it to the Shabbos menu. After everyone came back to camp, showered, and ate dinner we headed out for our second trip of the day. Thanks to Lander College for Men all NCSYers get to pick a free sefer. We headed out to Shabsi’s book store where each NCSYer got a book, with the help and advice of their advisors.
Tuesday we had amazing learning followed by leagues and a night activity called Blue Bonnet, feel free to ask your son about it. On Wednesday after learning we went to Manehim Pennsylvania and played some amazing games of Laser Tag, Frisbee golf, and had a great barbecue at Laserdome. After mincha we went to Spooky Nook for volleyball, basketball, frisbee and soccer at the Northeast’s largest indoor sports facility.
On Thursday we had some of our last games of league sports and a trip to the pool with hockey and basketball. We came back and had an amazing and meaningful final mishmar program, with optional learning, a kumzits, and some exciting prizes, followed by our late night delicacies of chicken fingers and pastrami eggrolls!
Today we will learn, go to Target or Seven Mile Market and play the last league games before candle lighting as we head into what will iyH be a great Shabbos.
